Hot Air Balloon Flights Begin in Delhi at Rs 3,000 — Will This Lift Tourism?

New Delhi: Now Delhiites will be able to touch the sky on the banks of Yamuna. The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on Tuesday conducted a successful trial of hot air balloon rides at Bansara Park on the Yamuna Riverfront. Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena himself tested it and posted it on X. This new adventure activity of DDA will make Delhi more lively, and the safety standards will be top-notch. Public rides will start from Bansra on 29th November (Saturday). Then it will also start at Asita Riverfront, Yamuna Sports Complex, and CWG Village Sports Complex.

Will these parks make Delhi a 'Green City'?

Saxena said that the trial was successful. Professional operators and high safety standards were also maintained. DDA has selected a certified agency, and balloon launch, piloting, and safety checks are all their responsibility. A panoramic view of the trial and Yamuna will be visible in Bansara (Sarai Kale Khan). Will be launched soon at Asita (once encrusted, now a green landscape), Yamuna Sports Complex, and CWG Complex. "Part of DDA's Yamuna Riverbank Rejuvenation—30,000 bamboos, 3 water bodies, and a musical fountain at Bansara." 

Will this make Delhi an adventure hub?

Ride Tethered (tied to the ground)—15-20 minute flight, basket for 4 people. Price: Rs 3,000/person (tax excluded). The slots will be in the morning and evening and will depend on the weather. North India's peak season will be in November-February, and there will be 4 hours of daily flying. It will be increased on remaining demand. A DDA spokesperson said that Yamuna floodplains will be activated through adventure and recreation.

Will this boost tourism?

This initiative of DDA will become a part of Yamuna Rejuvenation. Asita will get green space, and Bansra will get a bamboo park. Will be expanded upon public response. Day rides will also start. The aim is to make Delhi a vibrant city, and world-class infrastructure will be arranged.

DDA has selected experienced operators who have expertise in ballooning and aviation recreation. Pre-ascent safety checks are mandatory. Tethered flights are controlled and safe. Will this become a new option for family outings?
